Seven easy steps to creating an annual content calendar

  1. Map out your key seasonal/industry trends throughout the year
  2. Map out your own topics and annual schedule
  3. Get into more detailed planning, combining your own topics and seasonal/industry topics and trends
  4. Write a short summary for each piece of content and consider the available background information and support materials
  5. Choose the right content type (or mix) for each: Articles – Blog Posts – Guides – E-books – Whitepapers – Info-graphics – Videos – etc.
  6. Assign and tailor the content to the appropriate target audience and customer journey stage(s): Awareness – Consideration – Purchase – Retention – Advocacy
  7. Choose the appropriate channels for each piece of content: Website – Social Media – Newsletter – Email Campaign – Direct Mailing – Online Media – Print Media – TV – etc.
